Technical Design Manager Full Time
Brixton is looking for a Technical Design Manager! The Manager, Technical Design is a fit, style and construction expert who possesses a deep understanding of the brand, target consumer, product history and aesthetic requirements. This role is responsible for the quality of brand fit, consistency and construction across all product categories and divisions. The Manager of Technical Design is a key strategic partner responsible for the management of the Technical Design team and fit execution from development through commercialization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all technical design requirements from development through production.
- Utilize fit expertise along with expert analytical and problem-solving skills to anticipate and resolve all technical, fit and quality issues in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Provide recommendations for cost engineering to ensure garment construction meets target costing.
- Schedule and lead all fittings.
- Communicate fit comments to vendors.
- Maintain and update Brixton Fit process SOP.
- Establish and manage department Fit budget.
- Interview and hire fit models meeting Brixton’s established specifications.
- Perform seasonal store checks to ensure fit quality and consistency.
- Conduct bi-annual brand comparisons and provide recommendations for fit updates to adapt to consumer needs.
- Proof seasonal catalog for fit description accuracy.
- Develop, lead and manage a technical design team to deliver in line with business goals and GTM calendar.
- Stay current on advancements in the technical design field including Ai and software options to provide recommendations for enhancements.
- Interview, hire, train and schedule new hires and temps.
- Conduct fit clinics with the Ecom team and Store Managers to provide fit education.
- Demonstrate professionalism and excellence in leadership and strategic thinking.
- Other duties may be assigned on an as needed basis
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- BS in Apparel Technical Design.
- 8+ years of experience as a Technical Designer in the apparel industry with a proven track record of excellence across multiple product categories.
- Strong understanding of product engineering, patternmaking, product development, garment construction and manufacturing processes.
- Expert level understanding of garment and fabric technology.
- Well versed with PLM software and its implementation.
- Familiarity with AI and technical design related software.
- Advanced knowledge of garment testing and product safety requirements.
- Advanced level computer skills – Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PPT).
- Extended hours and domestic/international travel may be required.
SALARY RANGE
The base pay for this position is between $100,000 – $105,000 per year. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Brixton’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
