Senior Production Manager

About the Role:

This role is critical for managing supplier performance and relationships, leading the buy process in collaboration with Sales, Finance, and Product teams, and ensuring the seamless fulfillment of orders. The Senior Production Manager will also be responsible for managing the production calendar, overseeing supplier payments, inventory reviews, and handling key account special requirements. Additionally, this role includes leading and mentoring a team of Production Coordinators, to deliver operational excellence.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented production leader who thrives on managing complexity, optimizing processes, and delivering results that support the brand’s growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supplier Management:

• Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, quality compliance, and cost efficiency.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, audits, and regular reviews.
• Manage supplier payment processes in line with agreed terms, ensuring accuracy and timeliness (communicate cash flow forecasting to Accounting and Finance teams).
• Resolve production challenges, and proactively address risks to ensure seamless operations.

2. Buy Process Management:

• Lead and manage the buy process in collaboration with Finance, Sales, and Product teams.
• Review and analyze inventory levels to ensure alignment with demand forecasts and sales goals.
• Optimize order placement by balancing production capacity, inventory needs, and market demands.
• Maintain clear communication with cross-functional partners to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

3. Production Calendar Management:

• In collaboration with the Sales and Operation Teams, develop and oversee the production calendar to ensure all milestones and deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to identify and mitigate delays in the production process.
• Regularly review and adjust timelines to address changes in demand, inventory, or key account requirements.

4. Fulfillment and Delivery Oversight:

• Ensure all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, meeting brand quality standards and client expectations.
• Collaborate with Logistics and Distribution teams to ensure smooth delivery to warehouses and customers.
• Monitor fulfillment KPIs and resolve any delivery challenges promptly.
• Monitor the SMUs process to ensure on time delivery.

5. Management of Key Account Special Requirements:

• Oversee production and delivery for key accounts, ensuring adherence to unique requirements and timelines.
• Work closely with Sales and Operations teams to understand client-specific needs and prioritize production accordingly.
• Provide visibility and updates on progress for special projects or orders.

6. Team Leadership and Coordination:

• Supervise and mentor the team of Production Coordinators to ensure operational efficiency and task execution.
• Supervise management of the PO process.
• Supervise management of the LPs and all product data in the ERP system.

7. Other Key Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with the Sales and Operations teams, manage SMS from purchase orders to delivery to the sales force.
• Manage and maintain Salty Crew WIP and Supply/Demand Reports. Ensure all data is updated.
• Liaise with international sales and production teams to assist in monitoring production orders and maximize fulfilment (Australia and Europe).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Fashion, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in production management, preferably in the apparel or fashion industry.
• Strong knowledge of clothing manufacturing processes, production planning, inventory management and quality standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Well-developed business, communication, leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of the team.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to various situations.
