The Board Lab is a locally owned Core Board Store passionate about surf culture, quality gear, and premium customer service. Whether it’s boards, fins or accessories, we aim to create a space where the community feels at home and inspired to get out in the water. 

Position Summary: 

As a Surf Shop Retail Assistant, you’ll be the face of the store—helping customers find what they need, sharing your knowledge of surf products, and keeping the shop running smoothly. If you love the ocean, enjoy connecting with people, and have a keen eye for retail, this could be the perfect gig for you. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Greet and assist customers with product selections, sizing, and recommendations 

• Provide expert advice on surfboards, accessories and custom orders. 

• Operate the POS system, handle transactions, and manage returns/exchanges 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment 

• Assist with stock management, receiving deliveries, and restocking inventory 

• Stay up to date with the latest surf gear and trends 
• Support with in-store promotions and events 

What We’re Looking For: 

• Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Retail or customer service experience (surf industry experience is a plus) 

• Passion for surfing and surf culture 

• Reliable, punctual, and a team player 

• Ability to work autonomously and take initiative 

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment 

Non-Negotiables: 

• Must be available to work weekends 

• Must be capable of working independently when required 

• Understanding of fast-paced retail environments is highly regarded
