Product Design Manager Full Time
About the role
Walker is a premium Australian golf apparel brand for people who think golf clothes should look as good in the bar afterwards as they do on the first tee. We’re founder-led, lean, and growing quickly – selling direct to customers in Australia, the US, the UK and Europe.
We’re looking for someone to own menswear from first sketch to factory handover, run the critical path across the whole business, lead the supplier relationships, and bring real graphic design skills to collection launches.
Senior, hands-on, a lot of trust. Ideal if you’re good at what you do and slightly tired of waiting for permission to do it.
What you’ll own
Product & range
- Seasonal menswear concepting, range development and line architecture – what we make, how much of it, why, and where each piece sits
- Product design and full technical development through to production handover
- Complete factory-ready tech packs: measurements, construction, graded specs, BOMs, fabrics/trims, artwork, labels and packaging
- Working closely with our women’s designer so the men’s and women’s ranges land as one collection – shared fabrics, colour stories, timing and story.
Development & suppliers
- Sample tracking, fit sessions, fit comments, revisions and approvals
- Direct negotiation with factories and mills on sampling, fabrics, trims, construction, costing, MOQs, lead times and quality
- Briefing and managing external contractors (graphics, women’s, specialist categories) so their work lands to brand and on time
Critical path
- Own the critical path for every range – men’s, women’s and accessories. If it’s supposed to ship in a given week, you’re the reason it does
- Protect product-development time during sampling, fits and range reviews so the calendar doesn’t get eaten by everything else
Design & brand communications
- Marketing and sales assets for collection launches: paid and organic social, email, e-commerce banners, wholesale collateral, presentations, in-store and print
- Campaign assets, product storytelling, garment graphics, print placements and reusable brand templates
Who we’re looking for
- 6–10+ years across commercial menswear design and technical product development, with graphic design skills
- A portfolio that proves both sides: factory-ready apparel development and polished digital/print work. We’ll ask to see tech packs and finished marketing assets, and we’ll read them closely
- Strong practical knowledge of garment construction, fit feedback, grading, BOMs and detailed tech packs
- Experience negotiating directly with offshore factories – you know what a good costing conversation sounds like, and what a bad one costs
- Expert Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
- Sharp prioritisation and comfortable being the decision-maker in a fast-moving brand where things change on a Tuesday
- Golf knowledge is necessary – Taste, craft and follow-through matter most.
Location
Our office and warehouse are at Currumbin on the Gold Coast, and that’s our preference – there’s a lot to be said for being in the room when samples land.
But we’re not going to miss out on the right person over a postcode. If you’re anywhere in Australia and you’re the one, we’ll make remote work.
