About the Role
We are looking for a Marketing Specialist with strong experience in endemic media and the surfing industry to drive our marketing, content, and media strategies. This role is ideal for someone passionate about surfing, media relations, and content marketing, with a strong background in marketing, communications, or a similar field.
As a key member of our marketing team, you will manage endemic media partnerships, execute content marketing campaigns, and oversee digital distribution across Surfing Australia’s platforms. You will be responsible for amplifying our brand presence, ensuring authentic storytelling, and engaging surfing communities through innovative marketing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Endemic Media & Partnerships – Build and manage relationships with mainstream & endemic media outlets, ensuring strong media coverage for Surfing Australia’s events, athletes, partners and programs.
- Event Marketing & PR – Lead marketing and media relations for key events, including managing advertisement, digital marketing campaigns, live content camapigns, press releases, organizing media calls, and securing media coverage.
- Partnership Campaigns – Develop and execute authentic partnerships campaigns that inspire & grow surfing in Australia.
- Digital & Social Media Management – Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns across platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and audience engagement.
- Graphic Design & Content Production – Create high-quality digital content, including social media assets, videos, and promotional materials.
- Analytics & Performance Reporting – Track and analyze marketing campaign performance to optimize future strategies.
- Collaboration & Teamwork – Work closely with athletes, media partners, and internal teams to enhance marketing and communication efforts.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar marketing role, preferably in the surfing industry or endemic media.
- A degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Experience in event, digital and social media marketing, with proficiency in content creation, advertising and campaign management.
- Strong media relations experience, including PR, content marketing, and working with endemic & mainstream media.
- Graphic design and video production skills (Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines.
- A team player with a passion for surfing and the ability to engage with industry stakeholders effectively.
