About Us
Created by surfboard shaping icon Bob McTavish in 1962, McTavish is a surfing lifestyle brand born out of Byron Bay, Australia. Today, alongside his son Ben, they draw on almost a century of shared design experience to handcraft a unique range of surfboards, and an apparel range with the sole goal of motivating you to spend more time in the ocean – because we always bring the joy of a surf with us onto land.
It’s pretty incredible that Bob and Ben McTavish have a century of surfboard design pedigree between them. Their years of experimentation have produced a range from 4 to 14ft that you’ll be sure to have fun on… in anything from summer soup to standup cylinders. Guaranteed.
We’re stoked to say that McTavish is privately owned by a passionate, independent group of Australian surfers including Bob and Ben McTavish, who believe in preserving a legacy. Everything we make, from surfboards to apparel, is all designed with the surfers’ daily ritual in mind. Playing around out there (no matter the conditions) is pretty important, because you bring that joy in with you.
