What makes a cool place to work?
It might be the people, it might be the offices, it might be what the brand actually does. It’s likely a combo of all three.
Welcome to a series where we visit some of the most interesting brand HQs on the planet, take a bunch of photos of their digs, gauge the vibe, and also check out what the toilets are like. Sound fun? Good. This time, we’re visiting the HQ of Vissla in California.
The first thing you notice when you walk into the Vissla offices in California are the surfboards. One is made from recycled delivery pallets, others are works of art you’d love to ride. It cements home immediately that this place is run by people who actually surf.
Walking deeper and they’re everywhere. Every room except the toilets has them. No surprise really, considering Paul Naude who started the brand is known for his world-class collection of crafts. That start of the culture has permeated through everything and it’s brilliant. From the designer’s den, to the halls of finance and eComm, to our back where they keep their mobile shaping trailer, everything feels salty. The staff are the same. Die hard surf turkeys that really love what they do.
If you’re someone who wants to live and breathe the coastal lifestyle, instead of slaving for a corporation that’s a slave to the shareholders, this is one of the bigger players that (on the surface at least) is keeping it core. Professional, yes. Polished, yes. But genuine.
Creators and Innovators doing their thing.
The toilets are nice and clean too. Definitely a cool place to work.
