Tax Manager Full Time

As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for executing and continuously improving the indirect tax compliance for the U.S. and Canada, serving as the primary contact for indirect and property tax audits and driving technology-enabled process enhancements. This role will also contribute to the indirect tax strategy through analysis and recommendations, with a focus on leveraging automation.  This role is essential to ensuring our indirect tax framework operates effectively to support the Company’s domestic and foreign operations.

Responsibilities:

• Execute end-to-end compliance in coordination with external providers; review provider deliverables in partnership with Tax Director. Prepare and review franchise, gross receipts, property tax, and other non-income tax filings.
•  Serve as the primary lead for sales/use/property tax audits and refund claims; support state income tax audits as needed. Draft audit responses and perform nexus evaluations and taxability determinations, escalating complex issues with recommendations.
• Prepare and review tax account roll forwards and reconciliations.
• Build, maintain, and enhance tax workpapers with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
• Research complex tax issues and document technical conclusions.
• Monitor tax law changes and assess their impact on the Company.
• Partner with business and IT teams to evaluate the sales, use, and property tax implications of new initiatives and collaboratively perform the necessary sales tax testing to validate tax accuracy.
• Support income tax projects and compliance as needed.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, and other cross functional teams such as Marketing, Sales, and IT.
• Plan and execute various tax projects from start to finish with general direction; independently manage timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
• 8+ years of industry tax experience
• Experience with U.S. and Canada taxation and proficiency with indirect tax software
• Proven experience with indirect tax systems and automation

• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Basic knowledge of ASC 740 and income tax compliance
